Schmidt's/Graeter's Collaboration

(Columbus, OH) -- Schmidt’s is partnering with another historic, family-owned Ohio company, Graeter’s Ice Cream, for September’s Cream Puff of the Month – Black Raspberry Chip. These cream puffs will be available through Sept. 30 at Schmidt’s Restaurant in German Village and at all three of Schmidt’s Sausage Trucks.

“Partnering with Graeter’s on a Schmidt’s Featured Cream Puff-of-the-month is something we have had on our ‘bucket list’ for a while,” said Matt Schmidt, Schmidt’s Brand Ambassador and a fifth-generation member of the Schmidt family. “Black Raspberry Chip is Graeter’s most popular ice cream flavor and my favorite flavor. They are allowing us to use their handmade black raspberry puree and their dark chocolate chips to bring our cream puff to life. The result is absolutely delicious.”

“The family and team at Graeter’s are huge fans of Schmidt’s cream puffs,” said Graeter’s spokesperson, Amanda Buechel. “Not only are we two iconic, multi-generation family businesses, but we both have a passion for delicious desserts.”

“The combination of our famous cream puff pastry and Graeter’s black raspberry puree is a treat that no matter where in Ohio you live, you will want to make a trip to Schmidt’s to experience it,” said Schmidt.

Schmidt’s Black Raspberry Chip Cream Puff debuts Sept. 1 at Schmidt’s Restaurant at 240 E. Kossuth St. and at the Schmidt’s Sausage Trucks around Central Ohio. The restaurant is open 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., Sun – Thurs and 11 a.m. and 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday. For Schmidt’s Sausage Truck locations, please visit: https://www.schmidthaus.com/sausage-truck/.

About Schmidt’s Restaurant & Sausage Haus

Born just north of Frankfurt Germany, patriarch J. Fred Schmidt journeyed to America and settled in south Columbus in the early 1880s. Opening the J. Fred Schmidt Meat Packing House in 1886 in the heart of German Village, Schmidt’s became Central Ohio’s most well-known name in meats and is to this day sold in leading grocery stores around the country. Schmidt’s first venture into the restaurant / concession business was in 1914, when George L. Schmidt opened a stand at the Ohio State Fair.  J. Fred’s grandson, George F. Schmidt, opened the company’s first restaurant in July of 1967 just around the corner from his grandfathers’ meat packing plant in German Village.

Schmidt’s has been featured in publications across the country and on the Travel Channel’s Man v. Food show. For more information, visit www.schmidthaus.com.
