Graeter’s Ice Cream Partners with Cincinnati Zoo for New Zoo-Inspired Flavor

Graeter’s Ice Cream Celebrates Summer with All New Limited Edition Chunky Chunky Hippo Ice Cream

Graeter's Chunky Chunky Hippo

CINCINNATI, OH (July 17, 2017) – Graeter’s Ice Cream, a 147-year-old, family owned craft ice cream company, will reveal a new flavor called Chunky Chunky Hippo in support of the Cincinnati Zoo this Monday, July 17th. The hippo-inspired flavor will be available for ice cream fans in Graeter’s Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Dayton, Ohio and Oxford, Ohio scoop shops as well as at the Graeter’s location at the Cincinnati Zoo. This limited edition flavor, like all Graeter’s ice cream, will be produced in small batches. A portion of the proceeds from each purchase of the new flavor will benefit the zoo, with scoops being sold at local scoop shops and at the zoo, as well as pints at graeters.com, in limited quantity.

Graeter’s new Chunky Chunky Hippo was crafted specifically to celebrate the brand’s home city and one of Cincinnati’s favorite attractions for families, the Cincinnati Zoo. With a toffee ice cream base, salted roasted peanuts and milk chocolate caramel truffles, the new flavor should be a favorite for adults and peanut-loving children alike. This summertime has an extra sweet side, as it allows Graeter’s guests to enjoy a nostalgic, hometown ice cream while supporting a local organization.

“There are two things in life guaranteed to bring a smile to your face – ice cream and Fiona, the baby hippo,” said Chad Yelton, Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden Vice President of Marketing and Communications. “Fiona continues to bring people together from all over the world in so many ways. We appreciate the support from Graeter’s and are excited to share this Fiona-inspired ice cream flavor with the community that has rallied around her for the past six months.”

“We’re excited to reveal an “extra” summer flavor this year,” shares Robert Graeter, Chief of Quality Assurance at Graeter’s Ice Cream. “In addition to the rollout of our Summer Bonus Flavors, Chunky Chunky Hippo is a true celebration of the season and has allowed us to support a fellow Cincinnati institution, the Cincinnati Zoo.”

Graeter’s Ice Cream plans to further take advantage of National Ice Cream Month in July with its continued grand unveiling of Summer Bonus Flavors in scoop shops and online for a limited time. Each flavor, revealed every other Monday, offers ice cream fans the allure of an innovative flavor made with the Graeter’s quality they expect. New bonus flavors will be announced on July 24, August 7 and August 21.

Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip is an ice cream featuring black raspberries from Oregon’s Willamette Valley and gourmet bittersweet chocolate chips. “We’re excited to partner with another local family company to create something truly unique,” shares Richard Graeter, CEO of Graeter’s Ice Cream. “As a Cincinnati-grown company ourselves, we’re proud to support not only local companies, but also craft brands that are just as passionate about preserving their authenticity as we are.”

"Collaborating with the Graeter's team on this project has been a dream come true," said Jake Rouse, Co-Founder and CEO. "Over the past six months, our teams have taken this project from imagination to one of the best tasting stouts we've ever created. We hope this is the first of many collaborations between the Braxton and Graeter's Family and can't wait for consumers to get their hands on this beer."

Regina Graeter’s original recipes and old-world French Pot process have stood the test of time – even as mass-produced ice cream floods the market. This innovative collaboration between Graeter’s Ice Cream and Braxton Brewing Co. is an ode to her time-tested recipes, taken to an even higher level by the addition of Braxton Brewing Co.’s passion for crafting the perfect beer.

Graeter’s Releases It’s Second Summer Bonus Flavor, Mexican Chocolate Ice Cream

By Graeter's Ice Cream May 30, 2016 No comments

Graeter's Mexican Chocolate Ice Cream

This summer, we are releasing a different bonus flavor every other Monday in very limited quantities in Graeter’s retail stores and our online store.

Our second flavor releasing, Mexican Chocolate, is spicy dark chocolate ice cream with a little cinnamon that provides subtle heat on the finish.

“My idea behind this flavor is to convey the flavor of Mexican drinking chocolate made in the home by Mexican mothers for their families. They buy cakes of Mexican chocolate made in local street side factories for this purpose. The cakes are stirred into hot water or milk to make a chocolate drink. Typically it has chocolate and cinnamon plus other flavors. It has a very subtle that comes mostly from the cinnamon.” Bob Graeter.

Check back every two weeks throughout the summer for the release of a new Summer Bonus Flavor. New flavor releasing on 6/13/16, 6/27/16, 7/11/16, 7/25/16, 8/8/16, 8/22/16.
