Dear bakery lovers of Cincinnati,
My name is Greta. I am the head baker for Graeter's. I love baking and have been baking in Cincinnati for a very very long time. I don't know why but some people thought I would be a good spokesman for the Graeter's bakery and there were advertising people following me around for a week. They wrote down a lot of things I said and took some pictures of me. Now I see my picture in the stores. I get very embarrassed when people recognize me at the bank, post office and market. I wish I could carry cheese crowns around in my purse for everyone that recognizes me but they would smush and I work too hard to give away stuff that isn't fresh. Please stop asking for my baked treats, it breaks my heart when I have to say no.
The handsome advertising men want me to write about what I do. I don't know why. It's pretty ordinary and I am not very fast at typing. I took typing lessons just after the war but never typed a lot after that. I am good at taking short hand though. I would take shorthand for Wilmer Graeter then write his letters. He always thought handwritten notes were better than using a typewriter.
I wish they would have picked a different week for me to start this. See Thanksgiving is soon and we are very busy baking pies, butter bits and a bunch of other goodies. The holidays are my favorite time of the year but boy are we busy. We bake and bake and bake.
I hope you put in your order in for Thanksgiving. The cutoff time is today. Remember that everyone likes second helpings of pie.
Well I have to go now, the oven buzzer for the pumpkin pies is about to go off. I hope you and your family has a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and everyone saves room for dessert.
P.S. Thank you Steve Hellmich for helping me put a picture on here. These fancy computers confuse me sometimes.
